Liposuction for Men in the Inland Empire
Want to say “see ya!” to that spare tire? You’re in good hands with our team of experienced cosmetic surgeons.
Except for those who have been blessed with the holy grail of genes and a lightening fast metabolism, most of us have a few trouble areas. Whether it’s a little extra bulk hiding your abs, a persistent spare tire, or excess fat on the chest, sometimes hitting the gym or following a strict meal plan just doesn’t cut it.
As the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure year after year, liposuction is notorious for helping people feel great about their bodies. By strategically removing fat to reshape an area of the body, one of our talented cosmetic surgeons can help provide you with a slimmer, more toned look for years to come.
Is liposuction right for me?
The best person to answer that question for you is one of our talented cosmetic surgeons, Dr. Jacob Haiavy, Dr. Irene Tower, or Dr. Emma Ryan . All of our surgeons have vast experience treating men and have an intimate understanding of the male physique so they can help you look your best while still looking like you. During your consult, we can chat about your concerns, examine your trouble areas, and determine if liposuction is the best fit for you. We can also help you explore other options, answer any questions you may have about surgery or recovery, and introduce you to our rock star team.
For the most part, anyone who hopes to get rid of excess fat, has good skin elasticity, and is in general good health and at a stable body weight is a good candidate for liposuction. It’s a great solution for those looking for a more proportionate, masculine look but who aren’t getting the results they want through diet and exercise.
- Key Benefits
- Glossary
- Targeted Fat Reduction: Liposuction effectively removes stubborn fat deposits in specific areas, such as the abdomen, flanks (‘love handles’), chest, and chin, areas often resistant to diet and exercise.
- Enhanced Body Contours: By removing excess fat, liposuction can help in achieving a more defined and sculpted body shape, enhancing masculine contours.
- Fit & Toned Appearance: The procedure can significantly improve a man’s physical appearance and body proportions, contributing to a more fit and toned look.
- Quick Recovery: Compared to more invasive surgical procedures, liposuction generally has a quicker recovery time, allowing men to return to work and normal activities relatively soon.
- Gynecomastia Treatment: Liposuction can be an effective treatment for gynecomastia (enlarged male breasts), helping to restore a more traditionally masculine chest contour.
- Long-Lasting Results: The fat cells removed during liposuction are gone permanently, and with a stable weight, the results can be long-lasting.
- Minimal Scarring: Liposuction incisions are typically small, leading to minimal scarring, which is a significant advantage for those concerned about visible surgery marks.
- Adipose Tissue: The body’s fat tissue, targeted for removal in liposuction procedures.
- Anesthesia: Medications used to prevent pain during liposuction, either as local (numbing a specific area) or general anesthesia.
- Cannula: A slim tube used in liposuction to remove fat from the body.
- Compression Garment: Specialized clothing worn after liposuction to reduce swelling and support the healing process.
- Gynecomastia: A medical condition in men marked by enlarged breast tissue, treatable with liposuction.
- High-Definition Liposuction: An advanced liposuction technique aimed at sculpting the body to highlight muscle tone and definition.
- Incisions: Small cuts made on the skin during liposuction to insert the cannula for fat removal.
- Liposuction (Lipo): A cosmetic surgical procedure to remove excess fat from specific areas of the body.
- Local Anesthesia: Anesthesia applied to numb only the surgery area, often used for less extensive liposuction.
- Love Handles: The excess fat around the sides of the waist, a common target area for liposuction in men.
- Recovery Time: The period needed for healing post-liposuction.
- Subcutaneous Fat: The layer of fat located directly under the skin, which is primarily targeted during liposuction.
- Suction-Assisted Liposuction (SAL): A traditional method of liposuction involving the suction of fat through a cannula.
- Tickle Lipo: A form of liposuction that uses low-frequency acoustic infrasonic vibrations, noted for its comfort and effectiveness in fat removal.
- Tumescent Liposuction: A liposuction technique where a solution is injected into the fatty tissue before fat removal to minimize discomfort and bleeding.
- Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL): A variant of liposuction using ultrasound technology to liquefy fat cells before removal.
- VASER Liposuction: A type of liposuction that employs ultrasound technology for precise fat removal and body contouring.
Liposuction can reduce fat virtually anywhere on the body, including:
- Around the midsection to reduce a spare tire and showcase your abs
- On the chest to treat gynecomastia
- Along the upper arms to highlight your underlying muscles
- Under the chin for a sleeker jawline
What happens during liposuction?
In the hands of our experienced surgeons, liposuction is a relatively straightforward, safe procedure with consistent results. Depending on where your trouble areas are and how much fat needs to be removed to give you a great outcome, your procedure will be performed either with local or general anesthesia.
Your surgeon will begin by making small, inconspicuous incisions around the area to be treated, taking care to place them where they are camouflaged by natural contours of your body or easily hidden by clothing. Through these incisions, a special, hollow tube is inserted and used to suction out fat.
Once we’ve re-contoured the area, we’ll suture the incisions and dress them with surgical bandages. After a brief recovery in our surgery center, you can return home with the help of a designated driver.
What is liposuction recovery like?
While you’ll be down for a few days—and will have to table your workouts for a few weeks—most of our patients are surprised to find that liposuction recovery is fairly quick and comfortable after initial recovery. You’ll be up and moving, albeit slowly, immediately after surgery and should only need to miss around 4 – 7 days of work if your job isn’t strenuous.
It’s normal to feel some discomfort, particularly at the incision sites and surrounding areas. We’ll prescribe pain medication to help manage this discomfort, though most of our patients switch to OTC pain relievers within a few days.
After about 10 days, you can resume most of your regular, day-to-day activities without restriction, barring exercise. Depending on your treated area and how much fat was removed, you may be on a restricted exercise routine for a month or so.
Your results will start to take shape over the course of about 6 – 12 weeks as swelling recedes and your body heals.
Advanced liposuction techniques for a quicker recovery
Here at Inland Cosmetic Surgery, we use a number of advanced liposuction techniques to provide you with optimal results, less trauma to the body, and a speedier recovery. We’ll chat about which option is right for you during your consultation.
- VASER ultrasound liposuction: The use of ultrasound minimizes discomfort and provides incredibly smooth, precise results. This is great for more delicate, smaller areas.
- 4D High-Def LipoSelection: With a strategic combination of VASER and fat injections, we can remove fat in the precise locations needed to reveal your “six pack” musculature and, if needed, transfer fat to other areas to enhance your overall proportions.
- Tickle liposuction: This minimally invasive liposuction procedure uses a vibrating instrument to shorten procedure time, disrupt fat for easier removal, and sculpt with less trauma.
