Radiofrequency Microneedling (RF Microneedling)

Say goodbye to dullness and hello to a refreshed, youthful complexion! RF microneedling is an innovative treatment that combines the skin-tightening power of radiofrequency energy with microneedling to transform your skin from within.

What is RF microneedling?

RF microneedling is a cutting-edge procedure that marries the benefits of traditional microneedling (smoother skin texture, reduced fine lines and blemishes) with the enhanced effects of radiofrequency energy (skin tightening). This powerful duo stimulates collagen production in deep tissues, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more radiant skin with minimal downtime and no invasive techniques.

Benefits of RF Microneedling

There are many skin improvements RF microneedling can offer:

  • Smoother texture and reduced wrinkles
  • Tighter, firmer skin
  • Improved skin tone and reduced pigmentation
  • Diminished acne scars and stretch marks
  • Reduced appearance of enlarged pores
  • Effective cellulite improvement

How it Works

Tiny needles create micro-injuries in the skin, triggering your body’s natural healing process. Simultaneously, radiofrequency energy heats the deeper layers of skin; this heat promotes collagen remodeling and elastin production in the dermis. The result? Smoother, tighter skin that looks and feels younger and healthier.

We use two advanced technologies: Matrix PRO RF Microneedling & Profound RF Microneedling

We are excited to offer both Matrix PRO and Profound from Candela Medical. With short-pulse RF energy and unique Depth Intelligence™ technology, these skin rejuvenation devices provide the most consistent results we’ve ever seen for concerns like:

  • Loose skin (skin laxity) and facial aging
  • Wrinkles
  • Turkey neck
  • Double chin
  • Fine lines
  • Smile lines (naso-labial folds)
  • Jowls
  • Cellulite

Profound RF Microneedling: Best for wrinkles and cellulite

This treatment is suitable for individuals looking to address moderate to severe skin laxity, deep wrinkles, and cellulite throughout the body. Profound RF Microneedling is particularly effective for areas like the lower face and neck, providing a non-surgical option for lifting and tightening the skin.

Matrix PRO RF Microneedling: Best for personalization, quick treatment, and skin texture

Matrix PRO, on the other hand, is a highly customizable treatment that can be either ablative or standard, and which is ideal for addressing texture, discoloration, and other surface imperfections.

Ablative MatrixPro: This option is designed for more intensive skin rejuvenation. It uses focused radiofrequency energy to create deeper micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating a robust healing response and promoting collagen production. This treatment is ideal for addressing more severe skin issues such as significant sun damage and pronounced acne scars, as well as signs of aging. Patients can expect a more noticeable transformation with a longer recovery period compared to non-ablative, standard treatment.

Standard MatrixPRO: This procedure provides excellent skin improvement with a less aggressive approach. It targets the superficial layers of the skin, making it perfect for treating fine lines, minor blemishes, and early signs of aging with minimal downtime.

Treatment Areas

RF microneedling is versatile and can treat various areas on both the face and body. Popular treatment areas include:

  • Face (cheeks, around the eyes, jawline)
  • Neck
  • Body (abdomen, arms, thighs)

What to Expect During Treatment

Your comfort is our priority! Before the treatment, a numbing cream is applied to promote a painless experience. The procedure itself involves passing the microneedling device over the skin, delivering RF energy simultaneously.

Side Effects & Recovery

Post-treatment, you might experience mild redness and minimal discomfort, but these effects are typically short-lived. Protect your skin from the sun, and you can resume your daily activities.

Results

Patience pays off! Visible results typically appear within a few weeks as your skin starts to produce more collagen. The benefits continue to improve over time, with the best results seen after a series of 3-6 sessions (talk with your provider about the ideal number for your needs). With proper care and maintenance, you can expect to enjoy long-lasting rejuvenation.

RF microneedling vs. traditional microneedling

Traditional microneedling can offer many of the same benefits as RF microneedling, but RF microneedling carries the added benefit of tightening the skin to reduce deep wrinkles and laxity; we recommend RF microneedling, specifically, for those who want to fight signs of aging.

Also, our Profound RF microneedling device is specifically well-tuned to reduce the appearance of cellulite on the body, which traditional microneedling cannot do.

Ideal Candidates

RF microneedling is suitable for a wide range of skin types and tones. Ideal candidates are looking to address signs of aging, improve skin texture, and reduce scars or pigmentation without surgery. Or, you may have had a facelift in the past and want to complement or “touch-up” your results with this skin tightening procedure.

Not sure if it’s right for you? The aesthetic providers at our medical spa are happy to guide you through a personalized consultation! We offer a full range of med spa treatments, so we can always recommend alternatives if you are not yet ready to try RF microneedling.

Preparation and Aftercare

For optimal results, follow these guidelines:

  • Pre-Treatment: Avoid sun exposure and certain skincare products before your appointment.
  • Post-Treatment: Protect your skin with sunscreen, avoid makeup for a few days, and follow all other aftercare instructions we provide to see the best results.

Add-on: RF Microneedling + PRP

Platelet-rich Plasma Facials are the secret to smooth, youthful skin! PRP Facials use your own plasma to rejuvenate your skin and stimulate collagen. Combining PRP with RF microneedling often yields better results compared to either treatment alone due to the synergistic effects of the two procedures. PRP improves the tone and texture of your skin, and is a popular addition to RF microneedling for both the face and neck.

Other Add-Ons for Enhanced Results

We can boost your results with a medical-grade skincare routine and other customized treatment combinations! If you would like to enhance and optimize the effects of RF microneedling, we would be happy to talk with you about the ideal way to elevate your treatment experience in your consultation.

FAQs

Is it safe?

Yes! Our RF microneedling devices are FDA-cleared and treatment is performed exclusively by our aesthetic professionals who are trained in their specific application. Further, we will examine your skin and make sure you are a good candidate (i.e. you’re not prone to hyperpigmentation or cold sores around your mouth) before we administer services to avoid unwanted side effects.

What are the risks of RF microneedling?

If performed by an inexperienced provider, RF microneedling may risk scarring or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). For patients prone to hyperpigmentation, we might suggest a different treatment (like a chemical peel) to achieve similar results without this risk.

Our expert medical spa team, led by Dr. Jacob Haiavy, includes trained physicians, aestheticians, nurses, and physician assistants (read our patient reviews!). Each provider offering this treatment is skilled in using our Profound and Matrix PRO RF Microneedling systems, specifically, to give you personalized, safe, and effective treatments.

How many sessions do I need?

You may be happy with your results after just one treatment, though a series of 3-6 sessions at our cosmetic clinic may be recommended for optimal results.

How long do the results last?

With proper care, results can last up to about 1-2 years. However, be sure to take our advice about the optimal number of treatment sessions, or you may be disappointed with your results.

Which skin tones can get RF microneedling?

RF microneedling is considered safe for all skin tones, including dark skin tones! Still, it’s important to choose a skilled provider who can customize the treatment depth and frequency based on your specific skin type.
