- Key Benefits
- Glossary
- Long-Term Hair Reduction: Laser hair removal can significantly reduce hair growth over time, with many patients experiencing lasting hair reduction after a series of treatments.
- Precision: Lasers can selectively target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.
- Speed: Each laser pulse takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas, like the back or legs, may take up to an hour.
- Convenience: Laser hair removal eliminates the need for daily shaving or frequent waxing and reduces the occurrence of ingrown hairs.
- Cost-Effective in the Long Run: While the upfront cost may be higher than other hair removal methods, over time, laser hair removal can be more cost-effective due to the reduction in the need for continual hair removal products or services.
- Minimal Side Effects: There are few side effects associated with laser hair removal, and those that do occur are typically minor and short-lived.
- Pain Reduction: Many find laser hair removal to be less painful compared to other hair removal methods like waxing, especially with the advancement in laser technology.
- Reduced Irritation: Unlike waxing or shaving, laser hair removal can lead to fewer irritations or skin problems related to hair removal, such as ingrown hairs.
- Suitable for Most Body Areas: Laser hair removal can be used on various parts of the body, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini line, and other areas.
- Time-Saving: Reducing hair growth means spending less time on traditional hair removal methods, freeing up time in personal grooming routines.
- Diode Laser: A laser type used in hair removal, effective for most skin tones and hair types, balancing safety and efficacy.
- Follicle: The small cavity in the skin where hair grows; laser hair removal targets the hair follicles to inhibit future hair growth.
- Hair Cycle: Refers to the stages of hair growth, including anagen (growth phase), catagen (transitional phase), and telogen (resting phase); laser hair removal is most effective during the anagen phase.
- IPL (Intense Pulsed Light): A technology similar to laser hair removal but uses a broad spectrum of light with various wavelengths; often used for hair reduction and skin treatments.
- Laser Hair Removal: A cosmetic procedure that uses laser technology to remove unwanted hair by targeting the melanin in hair follicles.
- Melanin: The pigment in hair and skin; laser hair removal targets melanin in hair follicles to inhibit growth.
- Nd:YAG Laser: A type of laser suitable for darker skin tones; it has a longer wavelength that can more safely treat pigmented skin without affecting the surrounding tissue.
- Patch Test: A preliminary test done on a small skin area to check for any adverse reactions to laser treatment.
- Pigmentation: Refers to the coloring of the skin; changes in pigmentation can be a side effect of laser hair removal, particularly in darker skin.
- Skin Typing: The classification of skin based on its response to UV light, important in determining the most suitable laser for hair removal.
How does laser hair removal work?
The light energies that are delivered during your laser hair removal treatment destroy the hair follicle. With each treatment, only the follicles in their first stage of growth, anagen, are susceptible to treatment, which is why laser treatments are provided in a series. The Vectus Laser can remove hair from faces, backs, chests, arms, underarms, bikini, and legs
We offer packages of six treatments, which is the average number of sessions needed for the best aesthetic outcome. Laser hair removal technology can only affect hair in active phases of growth, so several treatments are needed to affect all of the unwanted hair. For face, underarms, arms, and bikini, sessions are spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart. Back, chest, and legs are approximately 8-10 weeks apart.
What does laser hair removal feel like?
Most people feel only a slight momentary “snap” at the treatment site during the procedure. After treatment, it’s normal to experience a mild, sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor redness and/or swelling immediately following the treatment.
These side effects usually lasts 2-24 hours. While this can be slightly inconvenient, you can resume regular daily activities immediately following treatment.
Silky smooth skin has never been so easy and painless all year round!
Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?
The Vectus can safely be used on all skin types from very light skin to very dark skin. It is best if the hair is black or brown, however, your provider will determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure based on a variety of factors.
How do I treat my skin between treatments?
Hair may be shaved, trimmed, and cut. It may not be tweezed, waxed, or removed with depilatories. This disrupts the hair growth pattern by causing trauma and resistance to the follicles. Though many share this concern, the hair in the treatment area will not grow back darker or courser due to shaving. With each treatment, fewer hair follicles remain.
In fact, the area needs to be freshly shaved before your treatment session. You may shave the area the day before the treatment or the day of the treatment before coming in for your session.
