Rancho Cucamonga Neck Lift Surgery
Aging is a pain in the neck…literally. But with the help of our surgeons, you can enjoy a slim, sleek neck that doesn’t give away your age
The effects of aging, stress and daily life can become apparent around the neck area. Folds of fat deposits can develop in the jowls, and the skin can become droopy or saggy. A neck lift can help tighten this skin and can give you renewed self-confidence.
Who can benefit from neck lift surgery?
Anyone with excess neck tissue, a strong bone structure, and skin that still has some elasticity can benefit from having a neck lift. Typically, patients are between 40-80 years old, but people who have undergone massive weight loss can gain the same benefit as well.
A neck lift treats:
- Excess fat
- neck bands
- Loose neck skin
- Sagging jowls
Our expert facelift surgeons will customize your procedure to meet your specific needs, and will walk you through the steps necessary to reach your aesthetic goals.

- Glossary
- Improved Contour of the Neck and Jawline: A neck lift can significantly enhance the contours of the neck and jawline, resulting in a more youthful and defined profile.
- Removal of Excess Skin and Fat: The procedure effectively removes excess skin and fat from the neck area, addressing issues like “turkey neck” or double chin.
- Tightened Neck Muscles: A neck lift often involves tightening the platysma muscles, which can reduce the appearance of vertical banding and provide a smoother neck surface.
- Long-Lasting Results: Compared to non-surgical treatments, the results of a neck lift are more enduring, offering satisfaction with the neck’s appearance for many years.
- Minimized Wrinkles and Creases: The procedure can smooth out deep wrinkles and creases in the neck area, contributing to a more youthful look.
- Customizable to Individual Needs: The neck lift procedure can be tailored to address specific concerns, whether it’s excess skin, fat, or muscle banding.
- Combination with Other Procedures: A neck lift can be combined with other procedures, such as a facelift or chin augmentation, for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
- Discreet Scarring: Incisions are typically made in inconspicuous areas, such as under the chin or behind the ears, resulting in minimal visible scarring.
- Anesthesia: Medications used to prevent pain during a neck lift, either as local (numbing the neck area) or general anesthesia.
- Blepharoplasty: Also known as eyelid surgery, a procedure that can be performed in conjunction with a neck lift to rejuvenate the eyes by removing excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat from the eyelids.
- Cervicoplasty: A surgical procedure that involves removing excess skin from the neck, often part of a neck lift.
- Facelift: A cosmetic surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the face and neck. Often combined with a neck lift for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
- Incision: A surgical cut made during a neck lift, typically around the ears and under the chin.
- Jowls: The sagging skin below the jawline, targeted in a neck lift to enhance the jawline’s contour.
- Neck Lift: A cosmetic surgery to improve the appearance of the neck, addressing issues like loose skin and excess fat.
- Platysmaplasty: A procedure to tighten the platysma muscles in the neck, often included in a neck lift for improved contour and reduction of muscle banding.
- Recovery Time: The period required for healing after a neck lift, with typical duration and care instructions varying.
- Submental Fat: Fat accumulation under the chin, often addressed in a neck lift to refine the neck’s profile.
- Submental Liposuction: A technique to remove excess fat from beneath the chin, sometimes part of a neck lift procedure.
- Submentoplasty: A surgical procedure focusing on the area under the chin, often involving liposuction or direct excision of fat and tightening of the platysma muscle, sometimes included in a neck lift.
- Turkey Neck: A term for sagging neck skin that resembles a turkey’s wattle, commonly corrected through a neck lift.
What is neck lift surgery like?
The goal of a neck lift procedure is to tighten excess skin, ultimately diminishing wrinkles and sagging. There are two parts to a neck lift: cervicoplasty, used to remove excess skin, and plastysmaplasty to remove or alter the neck muscles. Our experienced team of cosmetic surgeons Dr. Jacob Haiavy, Dr. Irene Tower, and Dr. Emma Ryan can also perform liposuction and, in some cases, BOTOX may be the answer if you have visible muscle bands in the neck while Kybella may treat fullness under the chin.
Neck lift surgery is an outpatient procedure requiring small incisions beginning in front of the earlobe and then traced around and behind the ear to extend to your hairline. To help with the removal of fatty tissue, another incision may be made under the chin. Once the excess tissue is removed, the underlying muscle is tightened, the skin pulled back, and the incisions are sutured closed.
Recovery after your neck lift
Recovery times always depend on the patient and situation, but you should be up and about in a few days. After your surgery, you may experience discomfort which can be lessened with prescription medication. You can expect to have surgical bandages around your neck area, and your surgeon may instruct you to keep your head elevated and relaxed for the next several days. You may also experience some minor bruising and swelling, but a compression strap will help ease these side effects. You will want to take it easy for at least the first week, and you will want to be extra gentle with your face and hair as you will experience tenderness and some numbness.
