Rancho Cucamonga Mommy Makeover
We think moms are pretty incredible—and we work hard to make sure they feel incredible
Becoming a new mother is a beautiful occasion, full of new experiences and learning what life is like now that you have a child. As many moms know, it can also bring some undesirable body changes that can be difficult to get used to.
We hear from moms nearly every day who feel uncomfortable with the appearance of their breasts or excess skin on their tummies after pregnancy and want to know what they can do to look and feel a little more like themselves. A mommy makeover is designed to address some of the most common post-pregnancy body concerns, and our experienced cosmetic surgeons will work closely with you to design a customized treatment plan that meets your goals and fits your lifestyle.
I have more confidence and zest for life. It was emotionally transforming not just physically transforming. The staff and doctor were very professional, well informed, friendly and helpful.Real Inland Cosmetic Surgery mommy makeover patient Read more real patient reviews
Is a mommy makeover right for me?
A mommy makeover can be a great fit for moms who meet the following criteria:
- Bothered by loss of breast volume or a “deflated” breast appearance
- Wish to remove sagging or excess skin, especially following weight loss
- Have drooping skin on the lower stomach (a “pregnancy pouch” or “mummy tummy”)
- Your abdominal muscles have separated
- You have excess fat that just won’t budge
- At or near your ideal body weight
- A generally healthy non-smoker
During your private consultation at Inland Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Jacob Haiavy, Dr. Irene Tower, or Dr. Emma Ryan will listen to your concerns, evaluate the areas that bother you most, and make expert recommendations for treatment. Together, you’ll determine which procedures and techniques are the best fit for you.
- Key Benefits
- Glossary
- Restored Breast Shape and Volume: Procedures like breast augmentation or lift can restore breast volume and shape lost due to pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Flattened and Toned Abdomen: A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) can remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tighten stretched abdominal muscles, leading to a flatter, more toned stomach.
- Reduced Fat: Liposuction can remove stubborn fat deposits that are difficult to lose through diet and exercise alone, improving overall body contour.
- Improved Body Proportions: Mommy makeovers can enhance body proportions, often leading to increased confidence and satisfaction with body image.
- Minimized Stretch Marks: Particularly with a tummy tuck, many stretch marks can be removed or their appearance significantly reduced.
- Corrected Breast Asymmetry or Sagging: Breast procedures can address sagging, asymmetry, or changes in nipple and areola size and position.
- Customized to Individual Needs: The makeover is tailored to address the specific concerns and goals of each patient, offering a personalized approach to post-pregnancy body restoration.
- One Recovery Period: Combining procedures means one recovery period, which can be more convenient and less time-consuming than having multiple separate surgeries.
- Long-Lasting Results: With a healthy lifestyle, the results of a mommy makeover can be long-lasting, allowing mothers to enjoy their post-pregnancy bodies for years to come.
- Abdominoplasty: Also known as a tummy tuck, it removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightens muscles, commonly included in Mommy Makeovers.
- Anesthesia: Medications used in surgery to prevent pain and alter consciousness, with general anesthesia typically used in Mommy Makeover procedures.
- BMI (Body Mass Index): A measure of body fat based on an individual’s weight and height, often considered when evaluating whether one is a candidate for a surgical procedure.
- Body Contouring: Cosmetic procedures that reshape areas of the body, often performed to address changes post-pregnancy.
- Breast Augmentation: A procedure to increase breast size, often using saline or silicone implants.
- Breast Lift (Mastopexy): A surgery to lift and reshape sagging breasts.
- Compression Garments: Specialized clothing worn post-surgery to reduce swelling and support healing.
- Diastasis Recti: The separation of abdominal muscles, a condition common after pregnancy and typically corrected during a tummy tuck, which can be included in a mommy makeover procedure.
- Incisions: Surgical cuts made during procedures; the location and length depend on the specific surgeries performed.
- Liposuction: A procedure to remove fat from specific body areas, often included in mommy makeovers for additional body contouring.
- Recovery Time: The healing period required to recover post-surgery.
- Sedation: Medication used to calm or induce sleep during surgery, part of the anesthesia process.
- Vaginal Rejuvenation: Procedures to improve the appearance or function of the vaginal area, which may be considered as part of a mommy makeover for addressing post-pregnancy changes.
What procedures are included in a mommy makeover?
While your mommy makeover will be fully customized to your individual needs, there are a few common procedures for addressing the top concerns moms have after pregnancy and childbirth.
Breast Lift
Breast lift: After pregnancy and breastfeeding, it’s normal for the breasts to lose a bit of volume, shape, or perkiness once they return to their pre-baby size. To correct this “deflated” appearance, a breast lift with or without implants can reduce sagging and lift the breast and nipple to a more youthful position.
Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck: The most common complaint new moms have is the appearance of of their lower abdomen. Excess, sagging skin, stretch marks, and stubborn pockets of fat can make it difficult to feel confident in clothes—in addition to being physically uncomfortable. Additionally, some moms experience a painful separation of their abdominal muscles, called diastasis recti, that can make even the simplest of activities uncomfortable. Abdominoplasty, or a tummy tuck, can both repair separated muscles and remove excess, sagging skin to create a smooth, taut tummy.
Liposuction
Liposuction: Many moms find that their bodies are storing fat differently than before they had children. Often, excess fat accumulates on the midsection, particularly on the lower stomach or around the hips—and sometimes it won’t budge no matter how often you go to the gym or how good your diet is going. Liposuction is a great procedure to add to your mommy makeover as it can enhance the results of other procedures, balance body proportions, and improve the contour of the hips, tummy, and thighs.
Vaginal Rejuvenation
Vaginal rejuvenation: Just as pregnancy and childbirth can have a noticeable impact on the body, it can also take its toll on the look, sensation, and function of the vagina and external tissues. A number of mothers we work with experience difficulties with “leaking”, loss of sensation during sex, and self-consciousness over the appearance of the vagina after childbirth. ThermiVa® non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation is a quick, comfortable treatment that can help improve these symptoms by tightening external and internal vaginal tissue.
Med spa skin treatments
Non-surgical skin treatments: Your mommy makeover doesn’t just have to include surgical procedures. In fact, many of our mommy makeover patients like to add on professional skin treatments for a bit of self-care and to address “pregnancy skin.”
Recovering from a mommy makeover
We want to reassure you that our surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgery counselors, registered nurses and the entire staff at Inland Cosmetic Surgery will help you from the very first step and follow-up with you after recovery so that you may have a safe, pleasant and comfortable surgical experience. After your procedure, we also offer a pain pump to help you manage discomfort for the first few days.
We usually advise our patients to wait until their kids are at least a few years old, as mommy will be “out of commission” for a bit. While most of our patients are surprised at how quickly they can get back to work or start feeling more like themselves, strenuous activity and lifting little ones is off limits for at least a few weeks.
Because every mommy makeover is customized, recovery is a little bit different for everyone—and your surgeon will provide you with specific details about aftercare during your pre-op appointment. Generally, you can expect to need a little extra help around the house for the first few days after surgery when you’ll be feeling the sorest. If you’ve had a full tummy tuck, it may even take a little bit of extra time.
For some of our patients we may recommend our post-surgery lymphatic drainage massage therapy treatments performed by our licensed massage therapist. This unique type of massage can help minimize post-surgery swelling and support a healthy recovery.
After around two to three weeks, most patients can start resuming daily activities, like driving, going to work, and running errands, though you may still need help with childcare and housework for four to six weeks.
